While they don’t pose a danger to the structure of your home the way termites do, cockroaches are still highly unpleasant to have in your space. Our team at Canady’s Termite & Pest Control wants to help you keep your home free of these pests, and to help you do that we’ll go over three strategies you can use for effective cockroach control.

  • Use Roach Traps. The first step to cockroach control is to identify the source of your infestation. To do this, we at Canady’s Termite & Pest Control recommend getting many roach traps and placing them in any areas likely to attract roaches, such as under your refrigerator or in your pantry. Check them periodically and note which traps start to catch, as that area will be the one you need to focus most of your efforts on.
  • Apply Roach Sprays. Once you have an idea of where the roaches are coming from, you can take your cockroach control further by using roach killing sprays. The best way to use these sprays is to apply them to the walls in the affected area, particularly any hidden crannies, as they will create a chemical barrier that will kill any roaches that come into contact with it.
  • Set Out Roach Baits. A third cockroach control strategy that you can use is to set roach baits in the affected area. Roach baits work more slowly than roach sprays, as the amount of insecticide has to be smaller in order to mask its scent. However, roaches will also bring the bait back to their nests, which will ideally expose the whole colony to the insecticides and get rid of your roach problem.
