Just like it says in our name, we at Canady’s Termite & Pest Control specialize in helping our clients get rid of termites, other insects, and even rodents. We have been working in this industry for over 50 years, so you can count on us to help you deal with any pest problem you are having. In our years of experience, we have encountered a number of misconceptions about termites and termite control, which in many cases has led to homeowners failing to act quickly enough to prevent major damage. To help you avoid the same fate, in this article we’ll be going over three of these myths and providing the accurate information you need.

  • Myth #1: It’s easy to tell if you have a termite problem. In our experience, many people have the mistaken idea that a termite infestation will be obvious and easy to spot, which is unfortunately not true. In fact, by the time you start to notice termite droppings, tunnels in your wood, or other signs, there has probably already been significant damage to your home. The best way to avoid this is to invest in regular inspections and termite control services from a reliable exterminator.
  • Myth #2: A single termite treatment is enough for long-term protection. Another misconception that we have seen is the idea that getting one termite control treatment will offer permanent protection to a home. While it would certainly be nice if that were the case, it is not, and you will need recurring treatments in order to provide the continuous protection your home needs.
  • Myth #3: DIY methods can provide effective termite controlLastly, some people believe that do-it-yourself methods of termite control can offer the same protection as those used by professionals. In reality, using these methods often results in higher extermination costs later, as the problem will have grown worse by the time you call in the pros. For best results, you should always call a trained exterminator as soon as you suspect that you have a termite problem–and ideally, you’ll already have regular termite treatments as a proactive control measure.
