Ant Control 101: How to Keep Ants Out of Your Home

Have you ever noticed an ant crawling across your floor and didn’t really pay it any attention? Well, you may have thought nothing of it in that moment, but where there is one ant, there are many more right behind it. All ants want are food and they can quickly infiltrate your home looking for just that thing. Here are a few ways you can make ant control a priority and keep these critters out of your home:

  • All Food Must be Stored. You want to make sure all your food is stored in airtight containers to keep the ants from smelling everything you are storing. Even if you put your food up in a cupboard, they will still find it. Keeping everything in containers eliminates the smell and access to the food. Once they don’t have access to your food, the whole reason for them entering your home is gone.

  • Always Keep Things Clean. Your food may be stored where ants can’t get to it, but they will still go after the crumbs that were left behind. If your space is not cleaned up from food, ants will find the crumbs and any sticky spots and assume that it is a place to find food. You want to make sure your space is nice and clean so that you don’t continue to attract ants in your home.
  • Seal Off Cracks and Entrances. Make sure any cracks and areas that might be an entrance for ants are sealed off. Ants are tiny and there may be multiple ways they enter your home, so you need to caulk and seal any cracks and/or crevices you think they are coming through.

These are just a couple preventative measures you can take to keep ants from invading your home. If you are noticing high ant activity in your home, give us a call today at Canady’s Termite & Pest Control for ant control services.
